West TenNessee / Mississippi USSSA BASEBALL CLASSIFICATION GUIDELINES

The Classifying of teams will always be the hardest part of our program. In order to attempt to place teams where they will be competitive, we will be adopting the following policy to properly classify our teams in West Tennessee and Mississippi. The ultimate classification is determined by the overall strength of the team. Some of the major factors determining classification include "In class record", "Power Ratings", "Average run differential", etc. Teams may be reclassified at any time by the West Tennessee / Mississippi USSSA Baseball State office and the respective classification committee which includes one (1) USSSA National Director.

Teams must begin play in the same division as they finished the previous season unless they have been re-classed to a different classification by the West TN / Mississippi USSSA Baseball State Director and classification committee. This means that if at least 5 players return from a previous roster are on the current teams roster then they are considered the same team, regardless of Team Name or Manager.

Classification Policy regarding State Championships (All Star Division ONLY):

10 thru16 Year Old Drafted League Allstar Division teams that choose to NOT play in the Allstar Division State Championship will be required to play up in the AAA division (they will not be allowed to enter the AA division).

6 - 9 Year Old Drafted League Allstar Division teams that choose to NOT play in the Allstar Division State Championship, they will be required to play up in the Open (7U, 8U, 9U) division (they will not be allowed to enter the AA division).

Exception # 1: Drafted League Allstar Division teams that have played in TWO (2) tournaments prior to June 15 may request to play in the AA State Championship if their results warrant classification as a AA team.

Exception # 2: American Division Allstar teams may play up in the AA division, ONLY if the American Division of the Allstar State Championship does not make.

Request for Reclassification:

Any team wishing to move up or down in classification may request to do so via email to the West TN / Mississippi USSSA Baseball State Director. Any team requesting to move down in classification, and is allowed to do so by the reclassification committee, will be subject to having their roster "FROZEN" immediately and also may face the possibility of not being allowed to add any additional players after the reclassification.
